One Month!

Where has this past month gone! I can't believe that Maggie Kate is one month old. We went for her check up last Thursday before we went to Midland for Weaver's B-day. She now weighs 8lbs 12 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long. She sleeps at least one 5-6 hour stretch each night and is a great eater, unlike her brother. She is starting to smile and bats at her toys on her bouncy seat. She is also getting really good at holding her head up.
This weekend we received the results from her newborn screening test and got some concerning results. Here thyroid levels were abnormal so we are doing another round of blood work to see if she has congenital hypothyroid (CH) disease. Please keep her in your prayers as we wait for the test results. CH used to be a major cause for mental retardation but now they know about it and can treat it. If she does have have CH she will have to be on medication for the rest of her life but as long as she is on medication she will have a normal life. Our prayer is that God heals her once again and the results come back normal as they did with her heart defect. We should know something next week. Thanks for your prayers!

I don't think that Mitchell and Maggie Kate look very much alike but sometimes she will make a face that reminds me of Mitchell. I thought this picture looked like Mitchell, except the lips. Mitchell has the tiniest mouth and lips and Maggie Kate has a huge mouth. My dad calls her Angelina Jolie.

Two sick babies

Well it only took three weeks and we have two sick babies. Maggie Kate is sooo congested so we are having to give her saline drops and use the bulb syringe. Mitchell seems to have the same congestion but does not seem to be bothered by it, he is still running around and being his crazy self. I know this will be over before I know it but it sure is hard to see them sick. Here are some pictures of my poor little princess.

Here are some pictures of Mitchell playing outside. We have the world's most boring backyard but he loves it. I love this picture because he was crawling. I haven't seen him crawl since June.

Last night I gave Mitchell a bread stick and he thought it was the greatest thing he had ever eaten. I usually cut his food up in tiny pieces because he puts WAY too much in his mouth at once. He thought it was so funny that I gave him an entire bread stick. I would offer him so marinara sauce and he would say " yumm, dip!"

The New Normal

Well it has been a week and 1/2 and we are adjusting nicely to our "new normal." Maggie Kate is a sleeping champ. She sleeps at least one 5hr stretch each night and sometimes two. She seemed so fragile to me a week ago because she was so much smaller than Mitchell was. She was back to her birth weight last weekend and I am sure she has gained quite a bit more since our doctors appointment. She is starting to get a little double chin. We are having trouble finding clothes that fit her because she is so long but so skinny. Most of the preemie clothes fit just right but they can't have built in footsies because her legs are so long.
Now for an update on the big brother...
Mitchell is doing really well. He was having a really hard time when we first got home from the hospital. We thought it was because of Maggie Kate but upon close inspection of his mouth I discovered that all four of his molars came in. Once they broke through his gums he was back to his old self-happy as can be! He loves his sister so much. He doesn't seem to be jealous at all. He says "AHHHH" every time he sees Maggie Kate and he calls her "Baby Shishy" Mitchell does seem to be sick of being at home however. He goes to the door and says "bye-bye" all the time. He is also obsesed with my mom lately. He calls her "Mamma" instead of Gamma. He will be so excited this week when she comes to help me while Stephen is at work.
Here are some pictures from the past few days.
Stephen bought these animals for Mitchell this week. He LOVES them. He makes the lion eat the other animals. I don't know where he picked that up.

Mitchell was a little stir crazy so we went to the mall for a while to play on the play ground and look around. Here we are with the new dubby stroller. This thing is a beast! It barely fits in my trunk. Now I am wishing I had a minivan.

Mitchell loved this cow at the mall playground. He is mooing in this picture.
